October Already!!

Well, my friends, it's October already! This year has seemed to really fly by, which is fine with me since I am waiting for the long-awaited day when I can be a stay at home mom...someday in the hopefully near future.

We are still stumped on what to be for Halloween. JM wanted to be Sam Flynn and Gem from Tron Legacy, but those costumes would take weeks to make, and we only have a couple to work with before Halloween is here!

So, we are still brainstorming to think of something fun we can throw together!

Thanksgiving is coming up too, my second favorite holiday ever (Christmas is my super fav, Thanksgiving a close second, and both just a month apart!!!). Our adopted brother and sister Matt and Erin and baby Natalie get to come for a visit Thanksgiving week, we can't wait!
Just look at this little cutie!! You'd be excited to see her soon too!

JM Survived his ankle surgery this week. He is doing surprisingly well. He hasn't had any bad reactions to any of his meds like he did with his shoulder surgery last year, and we've kept him on a strict pain med routine so he has hardly felt any pain these last few days. Hoo-rah! My dream come true. It was such a nightmare last time trying to do everything with him in such bad shape. We have been really blessed this time around! He'll be on crutches for about 6 weeks and then in a walking boot another 6 or 8 weeks. Here comes another 6 months of physical therapy! Man!

Ok, and lastly, cutie Jeddy leaves for his mission to Paraguay in just a couple more weeks! We are so proud of him and can't wait for him to begin this amazing two year adventure of service to the Lord. It has been such a joy having him stay with us these last few months, he is such a sweet boy and we just love him to bits! You are going to be a great missionary!! We are going to miss his evening guitar serenades, he is so amazing on that thing! Love you Buddy!

Billy, this one's for you!

Billy! To answer your question, I did great with my P90x. At the time it was very challenging for me...dedicating the two+ hours of workouts six days a week with the super strict diet. I continued with it for just over 30 days, right in time for E3. I only lost 6 pounds, but felt like my muscles were trimming up. When we got back from E3, I started the new love of my life, Krav Maga. It is an Israeli fighting system, street self defense. I LOVE IT! I go every day (well six days a week). I've been training for about three months now, and am in the best shape of my life! In the Krav studio, I take the Krav Maga class, but also go to their bag classes and core classes as well. In bag class, my right/crosses are getting stronger and my cardio endurance is getting better. In Krav we learn things like how to diffuse a fight, how to get out of choke holds of all kinds, how to disarm an attacker with a weapon, and how to defend attacks of all other kinds. With my background, some of it is a little intimidating for me, but also very empowering. I love my new strength and confidence in all areas of my life. In a couple more months, when my two-pack grows into an actual six-pack, I'll have to post a picture for you! My guns are buff! We probably do 50 or so push ups every class during warm ups. I'm getting better every day. If i ever had the patience to go back to P90x, it would be so slow and simple for me now...Krav kicks my butt! XOXO -Naun

Blog friends! Forgive my blogger slackerness! Here is a quick summary of the recent summer adventures in La Vida de Seals! Enjoy!

Adventure #1: 4th of July!

We made a quick trip to Utah for the 4th to visit our dear friends Erin and Matty and their cutie little angel Natalie. We miss you guys!!

It was Dex's first long car ride! From his expression, you can tell he is asking, "Are we there yet!" Poor little guy was bored out of his mind. He did great though!

We went to my first rodeo ever!! How have I not been to one before this, with me wanting to be a cowgirl and all?! We had the best time! (<-Matty, Erin, Me, JM, and some random kid)

Me and our new little goddaughter Natalie. She is a little dream! We love her!! Nice work Matty and Erin! I am the luckiest Auntie ever!

Adventure #2: Camping with the Fam!

JM's dad took us on a camping trip up near Christopher Creek and, of course we had a great time, like always! We took Dex for the first time, and he LOVED it. He and Zeus had such a fun time romping around the campsite, pouncing on dragonflies, and campin it up puppy style! It was fun! Dad, your hashbrowns are amazing!

Adventure #3: E3!!
John Michael and Auggie made the finishing touches on their iPhone game Virosassin and released in time for E3! We had a booth there and worked hard for three days convincing E3-goers to download the free app and play it while they were there at E3. Somehow JM and Aug convinced me, Melissa, and their cousin Tempest to be their booth babes. I worked hard with my doubled up P90x routine to be fit enough to wear the outfit! It was such a fun time, the boys did really great, nice work guys!! So proud of you!!

The whole gang! 3 days of hard work, but totally worth the experience! It was amazing to see all of the huge million dollar booths there! We felt like such little fishies in a big gaming pond!

We met famous people!! This is us with Zachary Levi from Chuck!! We love that show! He was eating lunch beside us in a random hallway of the LA convention center...when he was done eating we walked over and talked to him. He asked if we wanted a photo with him, and I was squeezing him all up! He was very sweet with us!

For you gaming nerds, we met Walter Day from King of Kong.

We went to the beautiful beach!! Miss you beach!

We got to spend a day with Jake, Lace, and the cutie kids! We all took them to the tidepools for their first time. They loved it!

Kody and Eden loved that their dad was catching crabs for them. Kody would say, "Catch me another crab, Dad!" But then when Jake would bring over the crab, he was too scared to hold it. At the end when we left, cutie Eden said, "Goodbye Trabs, I love you Trabs!" It was the sweetest little thing! I love my cutie niece and nephew!

Lastly, on this trip we got to stop by and see my dad and little brother Kev. It was a short but fun visit!

Adventure #4: Havasupai!!!

Our good friends Dahr and Dray invited us to go backpacking to the Havasupai falls in the Grand Canyon with them last week. It was the best backpacking trip ever!! About 12 miles in and a few miles of hiking around the falls. We left on a Wednesday night and came back on Sunday evening. We went thru caves, swam in all the falls, did night swims, had some huge thunder storms, and ate tasty food. Thanks guys for a fun time guys!

Dahr and Dray! Somehow Dray's whole pack got left at home on accident, so we all pooled our clothes and supplies together to cover her. She didn't have to hike a pack in! Lucky thing! She probably didnt think it was very lucky though, because she didnt have any of her things! An adventure for sure!

New Navajo Falls! I did my first cliff jump off of them! Go me!

Havasu Falls! The water everywhere was so blue because of all of the lime in the water. It was so beautiful and so amazing!

Mooney Falls was so amazing! It is about 200 feet tall and really is majestic! We had to hike thru two small cave passages and went down about 100 feet of chain to get down to it. Wow, crazy! You can't get the feel of how high the falls are from this picture...but if there were people down below, they would be little ants!

Dray and I made apple cobbler (above) using our jet boil! It was quite the process!

We helecoptered out! It was JM's first helecopter ride, and it was amazing seeing the grand canyon from above. We made it!! BEST TRIP EVER!!

SUMMARY: Summer was awesome! We look forward to our next adventures coming up...another camp out or two, friends and family at Thanksgiving and Christmas, a trip to London in April, and our adventure to adoption which is progressing slowly but surely. We should have our adoption profile up thru LDS Family Services soon, we are adoption certified which feels great! Hopefully a new little cutie will join our family in the months ahead. Still Bringing It!

Follow Up Post #1: P90 X Progress
Naunigirl Fans, I am happy to report that I am still bringing it!! P90X has been whipping me into shape! I have been doubling up on work outs and am actually working towards P45X where I will be done in half the time. 60 minute workout in the morning and 60 minute workout in the evening with continued healthy eating. It has been a challenging month, but I look and feel great! If I am brave at the end of my goal, I will have to post a picture. I admit, it is a bit monotonous calorie counting every day, but now that I know what foods approximate in calorie and fat intake, it is easier to eyeball things and not have to actually go in and count the calories, which has been a great benefit to my overall eating habits. I have some carrots waiting for me at the end of my goal: my perfume I have been saving up for, a new swimsuit, and a couple new outfits to flatter my new fit body. Hoo rah, totally worth it! So far I have completed 38 consecutive workouts. Nice work me!

Ok, so I have made a new commitment to make May a BRING IT work out month! I have set my work out and diet goals, and will keep them all the way until June and will evaluate my progress. So far I am on day 7 of my plan, and have been doing and feeling great! (Well mostly. The first few days were H-A-R-D! but after I got over the diet adjustment and work out shock, I have been feeling awesome!) I have been doing my P90X workouts every night, and we have been cycling on Saturday mornings as well. I am really bringing it! Super Naun, here I come!!

We Haz a Puppy!

Seals Fans! I sure apologize for the serious lack of posts! I will pop a few pics of our latest adventures in a bit.

We've had a new addition to our household of late. Little Dexter, our Italian Greyhound puppy is an absolute joy and we're finally glad to hear the pitter patter of little feet running around here...not exactly the kind of pitter patter we pictured, but fun just the same!

Don't you just love his sweater! We've had a good time getting better conditioned as puppy parents. It is really good practice for real kids, I'm not kidding. We've had our fair share of patience-making moments. He is JM's little buddy, and he's the perfect fit for us!! He has been learning to be a good boy at obedience class and loves "boxing" with the other puppies. We've been taking him to a dog park in town, and he LOVES running around. Italian Greyhounds can run up to 25-30 MPH, so the park is the perfect place for him to get his runnin' groove on! He has his shy moments around big dogs, but also has his brave moments where he bats those big dogs in the face with his long lanky arms and he gets a little surprised when they shove him back. Ha ha, cute little buddy.

JM's dad said he looks like Dobby on Harry Potter, and we agree! He's so funny. We call him "the dobby" now instead of "the puppy." He he, we are a hoot!

Thought I'd at least get a post about little Dex up here, so now when he does something really amazing, or naughty, I can blog about it! XOXO Naun

Car Accident, Shoulder Surgery, and Water Leak

Wow! It has been an interesting week for us! Last week JM was rear-ended in our new car. It was not very bad, but it has been a pain getting our car to the shop and dealing with the insurance company and rental car. We should have our black beauty back Monday or Tuesday...hopefully!

Then, later in the week, JM dislocated his shoulder while golfing. He slipped down a muddy hill and his shoulder was pulled out of socket as he tried to catch his fall with his arm. Poor guy! You know him...he is a very smooth-sailing, nothing-really-bothers-me kind of guy...it has been a little unnerving seeing him in pain and out of sorts. He has surgery on Thursday. The doc says he should be good as new after a 6 month recovery. When the doc was saying that, all I heard was, "your sweet wife will be bathing you, taking over your chores, and will be mowing the lawn for the next six months..." Ha ha. Just teasing. Mostly.

I scrubbed the heck out of these, his favorite shorts, to get the mud out!

Then, as discovered while doing laundry, somehow the upstairs laundry room is leaking water into the downstairs thru the floor/ceiling. Luckily, the space below the laundry room is the garage...so the water damage wasn't as bad as it could have been. I was lucky enough to be taking the trash out (through the garage) at just the right time to see a small stream of water coming down from overhead in the garage and turned the water off right away. Warranty plumbers made a service call and said they couldnt find a leak...after tearing a square of drywall out of the garage ceiling. So, I must be nuts and must have imagined the leaking water and drywall damage I found that day! Right! So, I am on the watch for a leaky washing machine every load from now on I guess. Nice!

Despite these three little mishaps this week, JM and I are doing well and Heavenly Father always blesses us so much! Everything could have been way worse!! I suppose it is fun to have a little excitement going on. Just wish this kind of excitement didn't cost so much! PB&J's for a while!

It was the absolute BEST time having Jake, Lace, Kody and Eden stay during the fun wedding/graduation week here in AZ! It was so fun to wake up to Kody and Eden's smiling faces and have Lacey here to hang out with!! Jake got to spend some sweet time with us too, even though he had to go back to CA to work for a couple of days in between events!! I was bummed that I had to work every day while they were here, but it was still fun like a vacation having them!!! I love being Auntie Nauni, and I have the natural desire to spoil handsome little Kody and sweet little Eden girl!! WE LOVE YOU GUYS!! Thanks for being so awesome Jake and Lace!

Fossil Creek Hike!!

We recently joined the Arizona Backpacker's Club and went on our first hike with them to Fossil Creek! It was absolutely amazing!! We love the outdoors, and the Fossil Creek trail showed us a beautiful view of the deserty canyon and then the green, mossy, fossil-y creek itself!! The waterfall at the end was so beautiful, we almost forgot we were in dusty ol' Arizona! It was a fun, 8 miler and was worth stumbling through the loose rock on the rapid descent!! Enjoy the pics!

Vegas Vacation!!

We had the most fun Vegas vacation with our friends Erin and Matty from Utah!! It was a follow up birthday celebration since all four of our birthdays are close. We stayed at the beautiful and luxurious Trump Hotel (which was cool because it does not have a casino attached, so we didn't have to walk thru smoke to get to our room!) We enjoyed shopping at the mall right across the street, relaxing at the pool, tasty breakfast in our room, dessert at the top of the Eiffel Tower to continue Erin's birthday tradition, and seeing Mystere -one of the Cirq De Soleil shows! We had so much fun and got the much needed relaxation that we went there looking for!! Thanks guys!! XOXO

I apologize for the lack of recent posts. I have been a bit overwhelmed with....EVERYTHING!

But I love and appreciate you all so much. For Thanksgiving, we had our dear friends Matt and Erin down to visit from Utah and we had an absolute blast! Thanks for the fun guys, we miss you!!! For Christmas we had the family over for a Christmas sleep-over Christmas Eve. It was quite the hootenanny!! Once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout!!

My handsome eagle scout is enjoying his new calling as Deacon's Quorum Advisor and Assistant Scout Master. He gets to go with the boys on a campout at least once a month! Lucky!!! I keep telling him he is going to get his fill of camping and won't want to take me anymore...maybe I'll secretly stow away on their next trip!

This weeked he went with the boys on an overnight backpacking trip to the "Coke Ovens" down south by Coolidge somewhere. I thought they were some sort of natural rock formation or something until he brought these pictures home. They are some sort of really cool, man-made stone ovens that the early settlers used to smelt down metal ore during the mining days! Wow, super neat. Maybe JM will take me down there sometime! The ovens were big enough that all the leaders and boys could lay out and sleep inside of one, which was serendipitous considering the freakish, atypical, Arizona rain they got!

Thank you for your patience with me. I haven't posted in ages.

As I ponder the Lord's plan for me, I can't help but feel blessed by my handsome little nephew Kody and my two beautiful nieces Chanel and Eden! Although I live miles away from all three...through the magic of technology, it has been a joy watching them learn and grow. Jake and Lacey's little Kody is learning new words and is so cute being a big brother to the new little sister he loves. And baby Eden is so beautiful.

This weekend we celebrated our 8th Anniversary!! We decided to spend a romantic getaway in Sedona to relax and celebrate!! We spent two nights in a really cool bed and breakfast called The Lodge at Sedona. It was nice to have no agenda and to enjoy the cooler weather. It was the first time either of us had visited Sedona, and we loved the beautiful red rocks! The highlight was a 90 minute couples massage we got...man, it was sooooooooo nice!! We watched movies, ate tasty food, window-shopped all the cool cowboy shops, and really enjoyed ourselves! Wish it was our anniversary every weekend!!!!! Thanks honey for a fun weekend, and for 8 beautiful years of blissful marriage! I am the luckiest girl of all time!!!!!

Sweet Summer!

Well, JM and I have been enjoying this hot Arizona summer so far! I sure apologize for the tardy post...escrow closing on our new house was delayed a couple of times, and getting moved in and settled has taken some time!!

We had fun with our landscaping. Since we were moving away from our pool, we wanted to put something in the back yard that would entice us to hang out back there...so we put in a gas fire pit. So...get ready guys...we are going to be bond fire-ing it up!!

New House! Woo Hoo!

Hi All,

Yes, I know how annoying it is to keep seeing my same old post day after day!

I promise to update soon! We have been swamped with work and with preparing for our new...........HOUSE!! It is very cool and we can't wait to move. Wait, yes, we can wait to MOVE...packing and moving isn't going to be fun...but we can't wait to be MOVED IN and all settled in our new little nest.

I'll be sure to post some pictures of the new house after we move in next weekend. Our landscaping will be finished two weeks after that...and those pictures will be fun too.

We had THE BEST staycation ever last week!! Our B.F.F.'s Ben and Julie Burgess and their sweet kids Kate and Josh came for a week-long visit from North Carolina! Woa! Quite the travel!

We packed every day with as much fun as we could! We made a list of all the things we wanted to do while they were here and then we just went out and did them!! Some of the highlights included:

Happy Birthday to Nauni and John Michael!!!

We LOVE April! It is such a fun, Springgy, Birthday-ish month! We've got lots of family birthdays in April, and it is so fun celebrating all month long!

Nauni's Birthday was during conference weekend, so we enjoyed watching all the sessions of conference! We LOVE conference! We were so touched and inspired! Mom and Dad Seals made birthday steak dinner and killer chocolate birthday pie (for all of us spring chickens)! Mmmmm!!! I straightened my hair for the special event, just for fun! Jes & Tony sent me a birthday fruit boquet at work (wink, wink) and my family sung me birthday songs all day! JM got me the best Juicy Couture perfume, Viva la Juicy. It is THE BEST!!!!! Thanks Love!!

Next it was JM's birthday the following Friday! Happy Birthday Baby! I love you so much!
This year was a little nervewracking for JM. Turning 30 is probably the least favorite thing that has happened to him this year! Honey, you are so super handsome, and I can't wait to celebrate another 30 birthdays with you!!

JM had to work on his birthday! (I guess he doesn't know the rule where you don't have to work on your birthday!) JM's family and I took him out to dinner at T.G.I. Fridays. It was tasty. I gave JM the XBOX 360 game Resident Evil 5 which he has been wanting (so he could play with Benny when he comes to visit)! Later that night I surprised him with the complete series of Halo novels! Boy was he surprised! (Thank goodness, because I always find a way to spill my surprises...I'm so nutty sometimes!!) He loves them! He wants me to read to him before bed (trying to re-capture your youth honey bee? Ha, ha, just teasing!)

We Love You Grandpa Seals!

JM, his brother Christopher, and I got to fly to Stockton a few weeks ago to visit JM's Grandpa Seals. Grandpa Seals' age is starting to affect him and we wanted to spend a weekend with him because we love him so much.

Uncle Greg and Aunt Daylin and were super hospitable and were our consierge, our taxi drivers, our chefs, and our entertainers during the whole weekend! Thanks guys, we loved spending time with you! And thanks for taking us out to eat so much! We were so spoiled!! Allie, it was fun hanging out with you too!! We also got to see Uncle Pat, Aunt Pam, and our other Seals cousins! Guys, you're the best!

We got to visit Grandma Bess. Thinking of her brings tears to my eyes every time. She has blessed our lives so much and has brought such joy to our family. I loved her kind and gentle heart, she was always ready to serve everyone at the drop of a hat! I want to always strive to be like her! Thanks for giving your boys a touch of sensitivity, we are so blessed! We miss you!

Ok, bad idea to take a picture of a picture...but I couldn't resist. This is a picture of Grandpa and Grandma Bess all in love when they were super young. It is taken of them on their way up Ophir Canyon where Grandma Bess lived (in Utah). When you look at it closely, you can see their deep love for eachother, like no one else in the world mattered when they were in each other's arms! Wow, now that's true love! Because of grandpa's memory loss, he forgets often that Grandma Bess is gone. When he asks about her, and he's reminded that she's in Heaven, it seems like his heart is broken every time when he realizes that the love of his life is gone. They had such a loving bond. They are such an inspriation to us! And we love them both so much!

Thank you Grandpa for the special, and emotional visit! We love you so very much and know the Lord will send you comfort and peace!

We Rocked that Ride!!

Our Solvang trip was so AWESOME!!!

We loved every minute of it! We left on Friday morning from Chandler and drove out to meet Nana and Papa who were already in Solvang. We helped as volunteers and registered riders for the Century (100 miles) and Half Century (50 miles) until 10:00 pm. It was fun to see all the excited cyclists pour into town. There were over 5,000 riders!

On Saturday morning, we set out on the Half Century course, and boy, was it beautiful!! The weather was super chilly (in the 40's and 50's) and overcast, but we didn't let it get us down! Everything was GREEN (huge contrast to AZ!!)! The terrain was moderate, but very hilly. There were three "King Kongs" that were super tough to get up (two were one after the other! So killer!). Also, my bad knee started giving me trouble 16 miles into the 50 mile ride! Shoot! I was committed to finishing that thing even if it meant I would be pedaling one legged the whole way...which is basically what ended up happening! There were roving sag vehicles that would have picked me up and taken me back into town if I really wanted...but NO WAY! We wanted to rock that ride...and we SO DID!!! JM rode the whole thing like a champ! Our Solvang jerseys and jackets were extra cool! Thanks Pops!!

Solvang, here we come!!!

JM and I have been training for a 50 mile bike ride that we're signed up for that happens this weekend! We are VERY excited!!

We've been trying to ride a few times a week for the past few months to get into enough shape for the Solvang ride. The best part about the ride is mostly the nostalgia that goes with it! Papa and Nana have been working the ride since I was little and I have helped many times. It is a fun and memorable tradition. I even got to "ride" 25 miles of it once with Nana and Pops when I was about 8! Papa said I did well for being so young! Now, the ride this Saturday is actually the Solvang Century, which is 100 miles! But since it is our first ride, JM and I thought it would be best to only try to tackle the 50 mile route!

We can't wait to put our training to the test and to enjoy the beautiful California countryside! Also, we are excited to hang out with Nana and Papa for the whole weekend! See you in a couple of days guys!! XOXO

We loved having Matty and Erin down for a visit a couple of weeks ago! Unfortunately we had to work every day they were here, but we had fun hanging out every evening! Smarty Melissa was the only one who took pictures while they were down, so thanks for the stolen pic Meliss!!

Elder Ashton continues, "Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don’t judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone’s differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn’t handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another’s weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other."

A few weeks ago, we got to go up to Auggie's cabin in Pine Top with Aug and Meliss. It was a super snowy weekend and we had a blast! One of the days we drove out to Melissa's cabin in Alpine and sledded down the hills. The funnest part was snowmobiling. It was my first time and I was crazy fast on that thing!!! The second funnest part was sledding down the street at the Pine Top cabin! The snow was so thick, and we were so crazy going face first! The ride home was a little scary because we drove home in a blizzard...and passed a few accidents...but we made it home safely! Thanks guys, it was a blast!!

JM's old buddy Shane was visiting over the holidays and we had a blast taking him skeet shooting at our favorite out-door range at Usery Pass. It was Shane's first time shooting a shot gun, and my handsome Captain Awesome had a fun time showing him the ropes. We got to use the sweet automatic clay pigeon throwers and JM hit two at a time every pull that day without missing!!

Temple Lights

We got to go see the Christmas lights at the Mesa Temple with our good friends (and neighbors) Garth, Michele, and little cutie Michaela Bell in December. It was a fun night. We have made it a fun annual tradition and even Michele's parents Joe and Florence got to join us this year. There was a sweet Christmas spirit there that keeps us going again and again. As an early Christmas gift, JM and I bought a "combined" gift for the both of us. I felt like little Ralphie from the movie A Christmas Story when he gets his Red Ryder BB Gun...only ten times cooler! We got a new Benelli Nova Pump Action 12 gague shot gun! Whew, is she a beaut!!! We've already taken it out skeet shooting!

Disneyland!!

We were so lucky to be able to go on a Seals family trip to Disneyland this month!

It was so fun being together and having fun with our aunts, uncles, and cousins! We arrived on Friday before noon and left on Sunday afternoon. Three days at Disneyland! It was the best time ever! It was our first time at Disneyland since California Adventure was built, so it was fun to check that out as well! One fun thing about being at Disneyland during December, was that they transform the whole park for Christmas! There were lights everywhere, Christmas parades, and even some of the rides were transformed...like the Haunted Mansion was all re-decorated as the Nightmare Before Christmas...it was super cool!

Ok, sorry I haven't updated our blog in a while! We've been so swamped!!

Thanks giving was a blast! We were blessed enough to have my whole family over during the holiday week (25 people!). We ate lots of yummy food, played games, told funny stories, and loved being together. The Lord sure loves us all so much, we're so lucky to be such a fun family! Also, we were all there to see little Chanel get blessed! She is so beautiful!

Yes, we are indeed the camping masters. Our most recent event was with cousins August and Melissa. We camped at one of our regular spots up near Pine past Strawberry, AZ. The weather was awesome! We set up camp late and Meliss and I tried our hand at cobbler in the dutch oven!
Ok, so we're not exactly dutch oven extraordinaires yet, but with practice, we'll be able to make it without burning it! What was salvageable in the middle was tasty. Thanks Mom for the dutch oven, it is beautiful!

The next morning we had my famous camping breakfast: bacon, eggs, and cinnamon bread french toast! Mmmmm! And later on Melissa and I made the best foil dinners! Magnifique!

Wow, conference weekend was so amazing! I absolutely love hearing the Lord's servants speak to us...and especially love hearing the Prophet speak. It is so awe-inspiring to know that our generation is just like the generations of old...we have a living prophet on the earth today who knows the challenges of our time and who leads us powerfully under the Lord's direction.

All of the messages touched my heart, but a few spoke to me. Oddly enough, I loved the talk by Elder Quentin L. Cook titled, "Hope ya know, we had a hard time."

I started this blog post by listing all of my favorite talks...but then it seemed like I was listing every single one!

The message that resonates with me from Conference is this: The Lord has given us a reassuring message of hope: “Fear not, little flock.” God will wait with “open arms to receive”those who give away their sins and continue in faith, hope, and charity. -D&C 6:34 and Mormon 6:17.

The Lord loves us and knows each one of us. Each day is a beautiful chance to grow closer to the Lord and to learn the tools we will need to serve others and progress in the eternities. No matter what circumstances befall us, or what challenges come our way, each brings us closer to the Lord and gives us tools to serve others who may from time to time face the same challenges. The Savior spends his whole existence serving Heavenly Father's children, go ye therefore and do likewise my friends!

Our brothers have returned with honor from their challenging but rewarding missions in Central and South America! Nauni's brother Joe served in the Asuncion, Paraguay Mission and JM's brother Christopher served in the Tegucigalpa, Honduras Mission! It was so special to have them both return within four days of each other! Wow, those Spanish speaking, funny boys sure are a hoot! It has been really fun listening to their stories and fond memories of their humble experiences! When Christopher stepped into his room for the first time in two years, he just laid on the floor and exclaimed how much he loves carpet and how much he missed it! It was really funny. Joe is cute as he tries to remember English. He usually forgets a word or two every couple of sentences. We love to hear him pray in Spanish. We already got to hear Joe speak in his home ward in California the weekend he came home. His talk was one of the most humble and Spirit-driven talks I have ever heard. I am so proud of the man he has become. His testimony really rocks, and it is so special to hear him bear it in Spanish! I don't think he can even do it in English! We love our brothers and are so glad to have them back at home with us!

OUR FIRST DATE September 3, 2000

Our 7th Anniversary August 17, 2008

JM and I are celebrating our 7th Anniversary today! We are calling it "Lucky Number Seven" because we are still so in love and can't believe we have been married for seven wonderful years. I will admit that I am a bit of a firecracker, but JM has shown such patience and compassion for me all these years, and I work hard every day to make him the happiest man on earth as a thank you. We are best friends and the perfect match. I know the Lord helped me endure a rough journey and rewarded me with JM at the top of the climb! We are both so grateful to a Loving Heavenly Father who guides us in our path to an Eternal Life together. These seven years have been the happiest years of my life...and HERE'S TO A ZILLION MORE!

Part of our anniversary celebration included a VERY fun weekend up in Pine Top with our cousins and friends! We got to go shooting, played games, watched movies, and enjoyed the beautiful and spontaneous rain! It was a blast!

Crazy Campers!!

We had a fun weekend camping up near Strawberry, AZ. Our good friends Erin and Matt went with us! The forecasts called for rain, and we were excited! We camped in this beautiful spot JM's dad recommended (old hunting spot!) and we loved it! We set up in the dark while it was raining...and the boys did great! In addition to enjoying the cool weather and beautiful nature, we had fun playing San Juan, eating gourmet camping food (french toast and bacon for breakfast!), and got to go shooting. Erin rocked that 9mm!! Nice job! We even got to do a little geo-caching. We found one right in our campsite!! What odds! It was so fun we didn't want to leave, and even convinced Erin into a future two-dayer! Here's to the four amazing "hunter-gatherers!" Ha ha!

We had the best weekend up at Jes and Tony's in Midvale, UT visiting little Chanel!! She is so beautiful and so tiny! She was born a month early, but is perfectly healthy and perfectly cute!! We got to visit my dad and little brother (well, not so little!) two weekends ago in California. It was a short but fun visit! We went to lunch and goofed around afterwards...what we do best! My dad is using his sweet carpentry skills doing house additions and projects and my little bro is finishing up high school. I sure miss those handsome guys!!

Catch up post! We went on a Seals family trip to Las Vegas to spend time with Grandpa! We had a blast! Three major hightlights: Hanging out with Grandpa! Phantom of the Opera! (I secretly sang along through the whole thing and mouthed all the words! What a nut!), and Family Mafia Pics! The Seals descend from the Italian Mafia, and the boys sure fit the part!

Jake's Graduation!!

I was lucky enough to be able to go to Jake's graduation from UCI last week in Irvine. Stud Jake graduated as a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering...(I think that is how you say it!). Congratulations Jake!! I got to spend four rockin days with Jake, Lacey, little Kody, and lots of family and cousins! It was so awesome! We hung out, played games, ate yummy food, went to the beach, hung out with Nana and Papa at their sweet Dana Point time share, and just had a fun time being together. It made me realize how close we all are, and I'm so proud to be a part of this forever family!!

P.S. I am Kody's favorite aunt!!
